First, we need a surface to work from. It should be flat. The surface should be smooth to work from. Then the sketch itself, which is a layer. Here’s how it works for us: Sketch the surface in GIMP. Here are a few examples. When creating the surface layer, select the drawing mode “point” and place a solid plane over it. Make sure it is at the center of the drawing and the size of the drawing plane is set to be 3/8 (square). The drawing point is selected; this will turn it into a solid. Next, select all the layers, go to Object > Move and make sure the “point” layer is off the object. Select the “solid” plane from the dropdown menu, and place it on the drawing plane in the center. Now go to Object > Paint, and choose a color. Draw it right away, and you are done.
