There are a whole bunch of different apps we keep hearing about that really like to change things up a bit.
If you’re an Adobe Pro or Lightroom owner, and are trying to decide what to use, do you really want an app that tries to teach you what you need to be able to do? Or do you really want something that doesn’t try too hard to be all things to all people? Do you want it to be about making sure your photos look great in your device of choice and you can use it with whatever software you use?
A lot of the newer options that are available are trying to have different goals: a cleaner layout, more options, and more streamlined experience for everyone. All while allowing you to choose to take things seriously, or not at all, when it comes to how to take photos.
Lightroom Pro / Lightroom CC
We’ll start off with Lightroom CC. Lightroom Pro has an iOS version, Lightroom Presets, with a few free presets like Night Photography. You can learn more about it.
Lightroom Pro for iOS has a lot more advanced features than the iOS version, as well as some features missing from the PC version, but I’ll come back to this in a minute.
Lightroom CC on the other hand, is pretty much just the same app as Lightroom Pro but for iOS, including the same basic tools.
Lightroom CC doesn’t currently have editing plugins, but it could get all the way to something like iPhoto if Adobe manages to get support for Adobe Camera Raw.
You can set a preset for your iPhone, and then apply it to your device, making your iPhone take photos that are more natural and pleasing to your eyes.
The only other benefit to Lightroom Pro for iOS versus Lightroom for PC/Mac is that it comes with a free set of presets. Lightroom for PC/Mac uses the Mac App Store as its main source of downloads, so it uses some of the same tools and presets that Lightroom for iOS comes with, like the preset tool, to make sure that you get what you want.
One of the big advantages is that Lightroom CC is an iOS app, rather than having to run on either a Linux or MAC computer.
Mac OS X
Lightroom Pro on Mac OS X is a little different than it is on iOS.
On the iOS version, the main menu looks a lot like it does
