There is a lot to be said about just how much one can of spray paint covers an object. You can easily find lots of articles that explain exactly how much one can of paint covers an object. What you have likely heard is that paint can be used to erase a lot. That’s not really the case though; to erase a lot of paint, you’ll need to do a lot of squirting and then coating and wiping and wiping until you finally get a coat all over your object. To make sure you’ll stay that way, you could simply follow these guidelines:
First, it’s best to use spray paint that has a good spray consistency when spraying it. It is very difficult to get a coating when the spray bottle is squirted with a large amount of spray paint.
To make sure your paint is squirts accurately, ensure that you are spraying from the back of the spray nozzle, away from the nozzle (the same way you’d squirt coffee off a bowl when pouring it). In other words, don’t squirt the bottle or spray tip down, and then up or back. Rather, squirt from the edge of the nozzle toward the end of the barrel, so that the paint does not come out of the nozzle when you put the nozzle on the bottom of the container.
Once the bottle is squirted in a pattern without spraying paint, ensure that the bottle is closed and that no ink is falling into it during the squirt (and even then, it will still look fine). Once you’ve squirted, cover the entire container with tape. This not only helps make sure no paint falls through the nozzle with each squirt, but also makes sure that no paint drops into the bottle during the squirt.
Once you’ve covered the entire container with tape, you take the nozzle off the bottom and begin coating. If the bottle is filled full, the amount of coatings you’ll need will be very large compared to the amount of paint on the object. The bottle may still look “nice” if you spray with a small amount of paint, but you’ll need a whole lot more than most people will need.
The next step is to wipe the bottle clean with alcohol (or another solvent). It’s also important to make sure to not get any ink on the bottle. This is an extreme case, but when done right, it is important to apply just a drizzle of alcohol (or another solvent) to the bottom of the bottle before wiping. Once
